HifzTeacher Privacy Policy

Hifz Teacher ("we", "our", or "us") provides a Quran memorization and homework tracking application available at hifzteacher.com and as a mobile app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information you provide when you register: your name, email address, and mobile number.
- Learning data you create in the app: your memorization, revision, reading (tilawah) and homework records, including surah and ayah ranges, dates, completion status, and your selected timezone.
- Voice recordings (optional). If you choose to use the voice-input feature, your device microphone records a short audio clip which is sent to a third-party speech-to-text service solely to transcribe your words into text. The audio is used only for that transcription and is not retained by us after the text is returned.
- Technical data necessary to operate the Service, such as authentication tokens and basic log information.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
- To provide the core features: saving and displaying your Quran progress, homework, and statistics.
- To transcribe voice input into text when you use that feature.
- To send you reminders or updates via WhatsApp/SMS, only if you have opted in by giving message consent (see Section 4).
- To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
3. How Your Information Is Stored and Shared
We do not sell your personal information. Your data is stored using Supabase, our database and authentication provider. We share data with service providers only as needed to run the Service:
- Supabase — database hosting and authentication.
- Speech-to-text provider — to transcribe voice input you submit.
- Messaging provider — to deliver WhatsApp/SMS reminders if you opted in.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
4. Message Consent
Receiving WhatsApp/SMS messages is optional. You may give or withhold consent at sign-up, and you can opt out at any time by contacting us. We will not send marketing or reminder messages unless you have consented.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. You can erase your data at any time from within the app using the "Erase all data" option, or by contacting us to request deletion of your account and associated data.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and row-level security on our database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
7. Children's Privacy
Hifz Teacher may be used by students under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or teacher. We do not knowingly collect more information than is necessary to provide the Service. If you believe a child has provided us information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will remove it.
8. Your Rights
You may access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time through the app or by contacting us. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable data-protection laws.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
